Profile: Graeme Craig Smith
Yes I am back. I have been hanging out at Amy S'. This come-back-post is dedicated to our beloved Captain Courageous. I know, I know. I'm not his biggest fan. But after chatting with some of Amy's friends, I developeded an interest in the guy.
This will be the first player profile. I am going to do them all so stick around. Lets begin by taking a closer look at Smithy. He was selected captain at the age of 22. Making him the youngest SA captain. Let me remind you that he became captain straight after the Hansie saga. Not the situation you'd like to find yourself in. But it's been about 6 years now and a lot has changed.
There are the positives: Being selected as captain for the ICC World XI test match against Australia in 2006. Winning over fans when he batted, despite having a broken hand, during a test match against Australia in January 2009. (Didn't even won the match, but he was determined and devoted.) Smithy is very patriotic.
The bad: Graeme Smith was well known for dating Minki Visser (nee van der Westhuizen) , a fashion model, cover girl of SportsIllustrated SA, and once ranked #24 on the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2003. He has been linked to Chelsy Davies (thats Prince Harry's ex-Zimbabwean girlfriend). Single ever since.

Rumours are spreading that Graeme Smith might be gay. Personally, I don't know if its true. He hasnt come out yet. But I have been looking for some clues. There are loads of photos on the web that will make you believe it. Even if you go google 'Is Graeme Smith gay' it will say 'yes'. Smith has gained a lot of weight. He might just be a compulsive eater, who knows. It's not easy being captain. KFC's new sponsoship deal isn't helping either.
Vice-captain, Johan Botha, is his arch-enemy, but he isn't the only competition. Roelof van der Merwe looked hot as the new opening batsman for BRC. There is a lot of pressure on him. He will have to step up and show some consistency with the bat.
