Graeme talks Trott
Graeme Smith was interviewed by the BBC on his old U/19 team-mate Jonathan Trott and how he thinks SA-fans will react towards him. Here is what he had to say:
"Jonathan is a talented cricketer and has taken (his selection for England) in his stride. (South Africans undertaking the English qualification process) is part and parcel of the professional world … fans probably make a bigger thing of it than the players do, I think. He made a firm decision a couple of years ago that it was the route he was going to take...He's grateful to have got the opportunity and hasn't pretended to be English or anything else... There will probably be some sarcastic comments and joking about the number of SA-born players in the squad, but Trotty also hasn't made any massive, abusive statements about the country he was born in...He's not been as outspoken as Kevin was … (Pietersen) created a lot of the tension and anger surrounding him."
