Eliminating the bad fish

I am getting desperate here. How the hell will we get rid of Smith? He is such an embarrassment. I don't care anymore who'll replace him as captain.

As much as I want it to be Botha, it's not going to happen, he is not in the Test squad. Parnell? He is only 20. I doubt Kallis or Bouch will take over. I'm sorry to all you baby AB lovers but I can't see him as captain. So who is left? Gibbs, well, that's never going to happen. Duminy? Maybe. I'd prefer Petersen, but he is always on the bench.

Mike Procter, that bloke who left Morne out of the squad, thinks that the  South African one-day cricket side needs more specialists.

We probably placed too much emphasis on all-rounders and did not have enough specialists. Perhaps we should return to a side that is almost like a Test line-up, with six specialist batsmen, four bowlers and a wicketkeeper. In the bowling department, in particular, we were short of another specialist. Another batsmen in the middle order could have held things together when the wickets were falling. Mark Boucher can get 30 or 40 runs at No 6 in the order, but we needed another specialist there.”

He also thinks that ROFL and Albie should bat at #3. But Graeme Smith disagreed: “You have world class batsmen in Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers batting at No 3 and 4. They have all the shots in their repertoire to benefit from such a situation and I don’t believe a big hitter would have fared any better."

What is your plan with baby AB? He is in the squad as a batsman. Do you want to move him up the order to #1? Then I agree. Both Mickey Arthur and Procter believes Cape Cobras swing bowler Charl Langeveldt should come into the equation when he is fit.

We will keep a close watch on the SuperSport games over the next few weeks to ensure we pick the right squad to take on England,” said Procter.

We know what this means. They will start from scratch.

And just what is wrong with AB as captain? I see he's no longer on your TCC list! Fine. Pick the flashier Dilshans, Malingas, Collingwoods (sic) and Morgans. We'll see how many test wins they'll set up.
I can't understand how you cannot see AB as skipper but Duminy as a likely candidate. And why not Amla? And seriously, what has happened to Prince? Smith, Amla, Kallis, deVilliers, Prince, Duminy, Boucher, Harris, Morne, Parnell and Steyn looks like a pretty decent test side to me. Albie hasn't convinced me but maybe he's a good replacement for Jacques when he eventually retires.

I think SA cricket just needs to get Smith out of its system altogether. He has been its ruination. Look at how many trophies Punter has brought Australia. Roeluf cannot bat full stop. Forget him up the order. The problem is that England rapes SA of its best talent. KP for captain. Unfortunately he prefers to live in England. SA must become a country where people like living otherwise its best cricketers will continue to leave and they will be stuck with rubbish like Smith.

Oh, shit I didnt mean K PIEtersen I meant R PEtersen. Sorry Cricket lover.

Achettup, I don't know why, AB seems like such a nice guy, dare I say soft, with no offence. The reason I didn't add Amla & Prince is the same reason with R Petersen, they are always on the bench. I doubt that Bouch & Kallis would take up the captaincy if Arthur offered.

I've been chatting with a friend and we discussed the whole ROFL & Albie issue, ROFL seems to be overated as a batsman and Morkel isn't preforming anymore. It seems like Harris disappeared from the face of the earth. There are so many talented cricketers on the bench, Tsotsobe for instance but they never gave him a chance. Langeveldt was available for selection but they never gave him a chance. Then there is Gibbs who has been inconsistent for such a long time. (Sorry Purna)

The time has come to get rid of the has-beens before the WC is upon us.

Boucher, Kallis, Gibbs and Smith have to go, the serial underperformers and past their peak. Let the future not also go back to Langeveldt. Time for new blood but I don't think there is much on the horizon. SA looks like it's hit a bit of an all-time low with its cricket with the cupboard bare of batting and bowling replacements.

AB should not be captain as he has little grey matter.

South Africa not good like India. India wil dominate cricket near future. India has Dhoni who is best looking captain and best player as captain. Smith is not good since Minki went off scene. Minki really attractive but they say they break up. smith not good leader like Dhoni. Smith not good looking like Dhoni. Gambhir best opening batsman, best bowler Zaheer. Zaheer injured no win Champions trophie.

Ach, AB can't be a captain because he is too young. Handing him the captaincy will ruin his batting. He has yet to show any leadership qualities. I think he is a follower, not a leader.Till now.
Duminy has more potential than him. So does Amla, but he needs to seal his place in the side first. The last time Sa went with someone who wasn't a regular...they ended up with Graeme Smith!

Bon, consistency is not Gibbs' strong point. But I can't think of anyone to replace him at the top. Prince? Jaarsveld?
The only reason Bouch is keeping his place is because of his wicket-keeping. He has been terrible with the bat for almost a year now. But can you picture an SA team without Bouch behind the stumps?
The thing is, Smith sucks. But the WC is too close and they have a lot of things to focus on. Rather than removing him, someone should give him classes in captaincy. I know, I can't believe I'm saying this. But it might hurt SA's chances more if they do a restructuring now.

Well Smith should stay....He is world class.........and so should Kallis, Gibbs and AB.....What is wrong with them....they still score and contribute more consistently than the newer guys.........

Well as for Morkel, he is going down and having a lean patch.....the Pathan syndrome is catching up with him.......He concentrated on his batting and lost his bowling and now he has lost both.....but he'll bounce back......

Bon, I had a random question. You know the guy who got hit when Watto smacked that 6? That wasn't you was it? LOL.

Vettori shows Smith how it should be done. Very good cricketer and leader. Smith has not won the respect of his players, Vettori has.

Time for Smith to retire judging by most of the people here who hate him. Then there would not be a lot to talk about.

I am curious, why doesn't anyone like Smith?
(pls don't laugh, if its funny, the humor is unintentional!)
Everytime I've watched a game, Smith has led from the front.

He is childish, arrogant, and cocky. He's an embarrassment, he likes talking bad about other teams(players) to the media. He has even hired a personal-life-coach but it's clear that his attitude hasn't changed one bit. He is a poor captain. He thinks one-dimensional, every team knows the SA tactic by now, he's incapable to surprise his opponent every now and again.

TCC, I have to agree, there was a time when he won in Australia when I thought he might be half decent. But now I just think he is an attention seeking ego maniac,I do think the whole captain hero thing has gone to his head and he tends to just want to hog the limelight off his teammates. It must feel like they are constantly taking part in the Graeme show. Somebody like Dan Vettori, got his team to the final because he is a great team man and his players cleary respect him, same with punter, sad that SA have Smith with his me, myself and I atitude.

The most arrogant player in world cricket, could have something to do with him been so disliked.

Is Smith really that bad?

Smith doesn't realise there's not an I in team. Everything's about him; he's egocentric and not liked by anyone on this earth.
